What is a Carers Champion?
Every GP Surgery has a Carers Register and a Carers Champion as required by the NHS.
Each Surgery has a Carers information board in the waiting area where it will tell you who the Carers Champion is and give you up to date local Carers information. A Carers Champion is a voluntary role.
The Role of a Carers Champion
- Promote the importance of GP Carer registration for Young and Adult Carers
- Listen to Carers needs and signpost them to local organisations for support
- Help to coordinate actions for Carers and their loved ones within the Practice
- Help to ensure all Carers are identified, registered and supported by the Practice
- Provide information and resources to Carers
- Promote Carers awareness across the Practice Team and with Patients.
