Women, Domestic Abuse and the Criminal Justice System

A conference focusing on women’s experience of prison, community services, domestic abuse, and how they interlink.
A conference on the links between the criminal justice system and domestic abuse.
The aims and objectives of the conference are:
- To raise awareness to the network of the links between domestic abuse and women entering into, and being affected by experiences of the criminal justice system
- To increase awareness of ways in which women within the criminal justice system are/ have been impacted by perpetrators of domestic abuse
- To increase awareness of the experience of prison for women and the impact of this experience
- To improve understanding of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s strategic response to women, domestic abuse and the criminal justice system
- To explore support options and services available for women
- To explore key good practice points and tools for services/ community groups to consider for use in their work
This session will mainly focus on women’s experience of prison, community services, domestic abuse and how they interlink.

This event is part of the Nottingham Girls, Women and Violence Network
This event is being organised for the Nottingham Girls, Women and Violence Network. The Girls, Women and Violence Network was set up to enable opportunities for grassroots and community-based organisations to access information and learning related to a range of issues specific to domestic and sexual violence and abuse and other VAWG related themes. Equation are funded for the organisation of the events which we do with input from partners involved in the VAWG sector, including: Juno Women’s Aid, Nottingham Women’s Centre and Notts Sexual Violence Services.
